#Invoice a completed job

When a technician completes a job, Fieldnote drafts the invoice with the job type's line items and any parts added on site. The office reviews it before sending, unless Send invoices automatically is on in Settings > Invoicing.

  1. Open the completed job and click Create invoice.
  2. Check the line items, quantities and taxes.
  3. Set the payment terms. The default is Net 15.
  4. Click Send. The customer gets the invoice by email (and text on Pro and Business) with a Pay now link.

#Invoice numbers

Invoice numbers count up automatically. Set a starting number and an optional prefix, for example FN-2026-, in Settings > Invoicing > Numbering. If you sync with QuickBooks Online, use a prefix so numbers never clash with invoices created in QuickBooks.

#Overdue reminders

Fieldnote can remind customers about unpaid invoices 3 days and 7 days after the due date. Turn reminders on and edit the wording in Settings > Notifications > Invoice reminders. Reminders stop as soon as the invoice is paid.
